NOTE: In Laura’s Africa Bucket List Travel research, there are SO many great options for visitors to Africa. It really does merit more than two weeks of vacation if you can spend the time. And, in fact it was a three week trip that really grabbed her attention. In the end, she could not spare 3 weeks away for vacation at that time, but still to this day has aspirations to see the places on this trip. It look like a bucket list travel experience, offered by Intrepid Travels.

QUOTES FROM THIS PODCAST
You can drive to Walvis Bay from basically the southern end of Namibia and you basically drive up through the desert along the dunes on the coast.
(the salt pan) … “it just looks really crazy cool, and in stark contrast to the dessest”
“Do people really surf down the dunes in the desert?”
“Salt pans, Skeleton coast, dune surfing….”
“Okavango Delta… that place is fantastic”
“You can cruise around these dugout canoes, called a Makoros. One of the guides will have a pole and push the canoe around. The water is not very deep, it’s like 3-4 feet deep and you go through reeds and lilypads the bird life is just amazing.”
Q: “What kind of critters show up when you camp out on the Okavango Delta?”
A: “Oh, nothing to worry about.”
“Victoria Falls in on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.”
“A really good entry point for the American tourist who’s not looking for like the most adventurous off the map experience would be in South Africa.”
“(South Africa is) a very highly developed and modern country and a lot of the a lot of the aspects of Western civilization that we’ve come to take for granted here in the United States are present there.”
“Probably if you have a short period of time what I would recommend is one of a few things either flying into Johannesburg and then go into Kruger which is the biggest park in the country.”
